New & Updated Rules on Clinical Enrichment Programs & Reporting Requirements
Following a public hearing on June 5, 2024, the Board adopted amendments to Administrative Rules of South Dakota numbered § 20:48:03:14; § 20:48:03:14.01; § 20:48:03.01:03; § 20:48:07.01:01; § 20:48:07.01:02; § 20:48:07.01:03; § 20:48:07.01:04; § 20:48:16:05; § 20:48:16:06. The changes in § 20:48:07.01 revised the approval process for clinical enrichment programs, clarified, and allow more flexibility for use of nurse preceptors. The changes in § 20:48:03:14 and § 20:48:16:04 revised and added requirements for nurses and registrants to report to the board within 60 days a new address, name, or other reportable event to be consistent with new requirements outlined in the nurse licensure compact, SDCL 36-9, and national standards, and to maintain current licensure information on file with the board. New & Updated Rules on LPN and RN Practice
Following a public hearing on October 10, 2023, the Board adopted amendments to rules in Chapter 20:48:01 and Chapter 20:48:04, that became effective December 10, 2023. The changes modernized the RN and LPN scope and standards of practice to be consistent with national standards and to be consistent with RN and LPN scope of practice statutes: SDCL 36-9-3 and 36-9-4.
