Assisted Living Center, Skilled Nursing Facility, Hospital
RNs and LPNs in a skilled nursing facility, assisted living center, or a hospital may only delegate medication administration to a medication aide who is listed on the Board's UMA Registry.
A registered UMA may only administer medications under the delegated authority of a licensed nurse.
Requirements for Initial Registration
Must have completed a high school education or GED
Must have completed a board-approved training program
Nursing Students and inactive LPNs/RNs may request to waive the 16-hour theory portion of the training program: Equivalency of Education Information

Must submit online application; allow 5-7 business days for processing
Applicants must identify the name of a board-approved test Proctor on the application

The RN instructor must submit the RN Attestation Form
Must pass the Board's online UMA exam. Find exam information [needs updating].
After taking the exam, an applicant will receive immediate notification of pass/fail
After passing the exam, an applicant will be added to the UMA registry; registration is valid for 2 years
After failing the exam, an applicant should review learning materials with RN instructor, then submit the Re-take Exam Application
The RN does not need to resubmit the RN Attestation Form
Upon failing a second time the applicant is required to repeat the 20-hour course.
